Visit Cape May Point

Visiting & Lodging

Cape May Point works best as a quiet beach, birding and nature destination. Conventional lodging and commercial attractions are limited inside the borough, while Cape May City provides the region's largest hotel and inn inventory.

Visitor Highlights

Municipal Beaches

Check current beach-tag, lifeguard and seasonal rules before visiting.

Lake Lily

Scenic freshwater lake at the heart of the borough.

Birding

Spring and fall migration draw birders from across the country.

Saint Peter's-By-The-Sea

Historic seasonal church and architectural landmark.

Cape May Lighthouse

Signature nearby attraction, but physically outside the borough in Lower Township.

Cape May Point State Park

Adjacent natural destination with trails and birding; also outside the borough boundary.

Lodging

No conventional in-borough hotel inventory was verified in the current review. Vacation homes and private rentals do operate in Cape May Point, while the broadest hotel, inn and B&B selection is in Cape May City.

Why NJTGO is not listing dozens of “Cape May Point hotels”: many booking sites group nearby Cape May properties under Cape May Point search results. That does not make those properties physically located in the borough.

Boundary-Sensitive Nearby Attractions

Sunset Beach, Cape May Lighthouse and Cape May Point State Park beaches are not inside Cape May Point Borough. The Borough explicitly directs licensing and ceremony questions for these locations to Lower Township or the State Park.
